Big Brothers Big Sisters is helping change the way kids are growing up in Middle Tennessee by providing positive adult role models to children in need. Volunteers empower our kids with the tools, confidence, and guidance to make decisions that will affect their safety, their well-being, and their potential.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a social profit enterprise that requires the personal investment of all Middle Tennesseans ? whether through giving of your time, talent, or treasure ? to make a powerful community impact leading to better schools, safer neighborhoods, and healthier choices.

Kids with a mentor are 52% less likely to skip school, 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, and 27% less likely to use alcohol. Our children are searching for role models in their everyday lives, and the fact is that each child has a mentor ? it?s just that in many cases, it?s not the right one.

The funds raised by the efforts of Bowl for Kids? Sake go to help serve more Middle Tennessee children waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister. It takes about $1,000 to mentor one child for one year.  Big Brothers Big Sisters funds go toward the volunteer recruitment, the application and screening process, reference checks, background checks, and supporting the match between the ?Big? and ?Little.?

This year Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee is celebrating their fortieth anniversary of serving Middle Tennessee?s children with a mentor. We have continued to honor our mission to make a positive difference in the lives of children in need, and to assist them in achieving their highest potential by facilitating professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with a committed volunteer.

In 2008, over 2,200 Middle Tennessee children were served by our programs. The administrative offices for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee are located in the Midtown Millworks Building at 1704 Charlotte Avenue, Suite 130, Nashville, Tennessee 37203. In our new home, we are part of the Nashville Youth Opportunity Center with a number of other youth-oriented non-profit organizations.
